We are pleased to announce that our Technology Director, Hamish Milne, has been awarded Membership of the Institution of Engineering and Technology. Hamish has spent the summer overseeing the upgrading of our data acquisition systems and providing a major enhancement to the analysis capabilities of our C-DAS software. The award of MIET is is another recognition of his expertise.

Following the successful trackbed stiffness testing on the Blackburn Stabling project, on 3 August 2017 Chris Milne of GSS gave a presentation on the safety benefits of CSW testing in the rail environment to Network Rail's B&C Safe by Design meeting at Network Rail Westwood, Coventry.

It is great to see the recent opening of the new Queensferry Bridge Forth crossing, which remind us of the early days of CSW testing with our forerunner company which undertook testing on the approach embankment to the new bridge in 2011.

The accuracy of CSW test data for predicting settlements is highlighted in a new paper co-authored by GSS's John Rigby-Jones and Chris Milne, together with Professor Gerhard Heymann of the University of Pretoria, and recently published in the Journal of the South African Institution of Civil Engineering.
